The latest version of Google's Chrome Browser just had its way with my laptop.

And like most updates, it gave me the chance to take a tour of what is new.

I usually decline but Google apparently caught me in a weak moment, so I agreed to the tour.

And there, I was surprised to find more proof courtesy of Google, that cybersecurity is really turning into a household mainstream topic.

Google touts security as a top feature of the new Chrome browser

Stop #1 on the "updated browser tour" told me about the new look. Stop #2 told me about the smarter and faster search features. And then, there it was in all its glory: Stop #3 on the "updated browser tour" touted Chrome's increased cybersecurity for users:

Yes, you are reading that (above) correctly: Chrome security is now your browsing superpower!

Cybersecurity as a superpower. That has a nice ring to it, don't you think?

What is most amazing is that just a few years ago pitching security as a feature to consumers really didn't move the needle much. But now Google and its marketing research determined that security is a top 3 talking point about the new Chrome browser.

Cybersecurity is clearly moving into the mainstream.

This is great news for those in InfoSec. We've heard many times at SecureWorld cybersecurity conferences that cyber hygiene at home impacts cyber hygiene at the office.

The more people care about security in their personal lives, the more that can spill over into organizations that are trying to keep things secure.
