I just finished reading Intel's 10-K report to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
Page 106 reveals litigation against Intel since revelations of the Meltdown and Spectre vulnerabilities on January 3, 2018.
"As of February 15, 2018, 30 customer class action lawsuits and two securities class action lawsuits have been filed," the report says.
"In addition to these lawsuits, in January 2018, Joseph Tola, Joanne Bicknese, and Michael Kellogg each filed a shareholder derivative action in the Superior Court of the State of California in San Mateo County against certain members of our Board of Directors and certain officers. The complaints allege that the defendants breached their duties to Intel in connection with the disclosure of the security vulnerabilities and the failure to take action in relation to alleged insider trading."
Intel concludes that section of its report by saying it is not possible to estimate the potential costs of this litigation.
And it will likely be years before the company has an answer.
