As CISO of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City, Yaron Levi understands the challenges faced by his peers in information security.
“Security leaders are under a lot of pressure to show quick wins while knowing full well that everything they do will be heavily scrutinized and challenged, and ultimately, they will pay the price for things that are not under their control,” he says.
“To that end, many security leaders take the approach of checking the compliance frameworks boxes (NIST, ISO, etc.), and while this approach may provide a blanket to cover one's backside, it is ineffective against real world adversaries.”
To help change this, Levi is leading a critical session at SecureWorld Kansas City on May 9, 2018: "Do You Have a Security Doctrine? Going from Compliance Frameworks to Defense."
Levi will share his approach for building a security practice and cover a lot of important ground. “Security strategy should be based on your adversaries’ point of view, and not on compliance,” he says.
And he’ll discuss how to focus on continuous improvement, which is crucial because every organization’s security posture tends to decay over time.
If you’ve ever asked yourself "How secure are we?" or "What do I do first?" then do not miss Levi's session.
