I'm suddenly having flashbacks.
During my 25 years in television news, we launched all kinds of vehicles with great fanfare.
Things like the TV satellite truck that rolled into town under police escort. And there was also the "PinPoint Storm Van" that basically was just a van with a wind gauge bolted on top. But wow, those graphics on the outside were sweet!
These are the things that pop into mind as I watch IBM Security's dramatic new video on what it calls a first of its kind: the X-Force Command Cyber Tactical Operations Center.
Rest assured, the video has heart-thumping "there's a hacker in our system right now" kind of music and urgent looks on the faces of cyber defenders.
Truth be told, however, it is a whole lot cooler than anything I saw in the TV news business. And it has a catchy tagline too: "Putting cybercrime on the road to ruin."
Cybersecurity's rise to prominence continues—one mile at a time.
